OK! Found the new Evangelion Rebuild box set at the Eva Store in Ikebukuro. Buying it there, though, means it comes with a lot of extras that make it cost about 30 bucks more. I didn’t mind, though.

A little perturbed… I headed out to Akiba today to pick up the ¥77,000 18-disc new Evangelion blu-ray set… but they only had the ¥27,500 4-disc set and the ¥110,000 28-disc set. Neither of which I want.

I've said this elsewhere, but "fanservice" is the wrong term here. "Service," is like a bonus or a freebie. Another term that's used is "Plus Alpha." Something MORE than you're expecting.

Like, you buy a beer and they give you free peanuts. That's "service." It's not lewd, it's not sexual.
The next-episode-preview for Evangelion Ep. 2. Misato, narrating it, says that she'll give you more "service." But the subtitle says that she'll give you more "fanservice." which was not the intention.

Hitting the "Hakeem Jeffries" button on Bluesky "trending" when I did, led to this interesting "ships in the night" exchange...
Two Bluesky posts. First one (4 hrs. ago) states, "Watch how white leftists will start shouting and demanding a primary challenge against Hakeem Jeffries as we get closer to the midterms. Especially once it looks like Democrats are poised to reclaim the House. It's already starting." Second (5 hrs. ago), says, "Hakeem Jeffries will never lead the Dems where they need to go in order to help the people. He will choose restoration over reform because he has been groomed by the Establishment. I wish people could finally accept this."

The VF-1S from Super Dimension Fortress Macross The Full Armor ZZ Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (including the massive cannon, though, which wasn't in the show, but only in Newtype Magazine art and on the model kit). The EVA-01, which I kinda hated the first time I watched the first two episodes in 1997 (I liked BIG, BULKY ROBOTS, and this was too skinny. Plus, it roared, which was weird). But as the series went on, I fell in love. The Braiger from Galaxy Cyclone Braiger. Not the first J9 robot I'd met (that would be Baxingar), nor probably my REAL favorite (that would be Sasuraiger), but it's a solid transformable design, and it's where the entire J9 epic starts.

First morning in Tokyo this trip, and I’ve already had an adventure… at around 6:45 AM, I was getting coffee from a vending machine, and a German/Japanese guy (very drunk), came up and started talking to me. We ended up going for a walk, and he bought me a beer. Nice guy!

I said, in response to someone talking about how Predator 2, released in 1990, was set in 1997: "Far enough in the future that you can make up some tech (or drugs) that didn't currently exist, but close enough to "now" that you don't have to change the cars, clothes, or buildings." And then some asshole replies, "Imagining a future where tech seamlessly integrates with daily life, we could see Al-powered personal assistants anticipating needs. Daily life would be more efficient and tailored. #futurism"

Still one of my favorite '80s mecha shows!
In front of the Akihabara WXP Building, which at the time (2015) was hosting an exhibit for the 1980 anime series, Space Exodus Idepon. A big sign inside says "IDEPON展" ("Idepon Ten," where "ten" means "Exhibit"). The ticket to get in to the Idepon Exhibit. Some people gawking at a human-sized statue of the Idepon robot itself, holding the Idepon Cannon. A vertical pan, stitched together of the Idepon robot plus on of the bad guy robots, with a space background which is colored purple and orange.
