As an RN I support parents w/ binky babies bc we know abt non-nutritive sucking/self-soothing. I had a binky boy to the extent his upper teeth curved but his peds DDS said no prob till perm teeth came in. Take away the binky b4 they’re ready & they’ll go for the thumb; that’s a hard habit to break.

I hope the family is ready. As hard as a slow decline is, it does make death less of an enemy and more of a relief. May Grandpa’s next journey be a peaceful and rewarding one.

their fairy kids with the human ones. Now, clearly there were no vaccines back then so this new-onset autism could not have been due to vaccines. It’s a correlation, not causation.

I tell my RN students abt the “fairy children.” In ~17-18th century, Irish lore spoke of toddlers devel’ing normally. Then as they became toddlers they devel’d sx we know today to be consistent with autism, but the parents couldn’t understand the change and they attributed it to fairies exchanging
