this is the last time. he promises it will not happen again

columbo is sorry to bother you. he understands how busy you are, and this will just take a moment of your time

i find it helpful that people get so insane about this. i use llms professionally, and the pull of anthropomorphisation is incredible - but it's much easier to dismiss the premises of an argument when you've seen its incorrect conclusion.

no; it's been extinct for 2500 years. thanks for asking though

what did they mean by pure fantasy? something like what we'd call high fantasy today, or perhaps the presence of magic that didn't claim to be scientific?

vaughn casually tossing clue after clue into the ocean. this incriminating evidence has no ticket

wow! what a difference it makes to incorporate this tech into a tool for professionals, rather than trying to have it somehow replace the professionals themselves

(apart from calling it a "boat" instead of a "ship", which was a joke)

columbo is on a boat with 106 used car salesmen and their king, robert vaughn. this sounds like a joke but it isn't

for example, in a parliamentary system the elected legislators wouldn't be able to passively abdicate control. if the cabinet *are* members of the legislature, they're answerable to each other and their constituents.

if the community sucks, it is reasonable that its representatives should suck and make sucky decisions

i'm really excited to see this art in the game tomorrow!

columbo is interrupting a funeral again. he's right to do it. nobody liked either of those people

easy for a bilateral, maybe. noone else would mistake the path of an epub which was formerly a webpage for the webpage itself

that's accidental! i was trying to have it vaguely sorted by release date, without crossing any lines. however, i do think there's a weak relationship between those things - newer entries have tended toward more complex information-retrieval as developers riff on it
gulbanana.au
you're right, it does; for example, outer wilds has great investigation with a similar "insert knowledge to progress" mechanism. however, i think the static part of it does contribute to a coherent sense of genre. there's something about viewing the mystery from "outside" that can be really engaging
gulbanana.au
i think that *limiting* it to some "investigate/solve" combo may be the core - for example, something like Daemon Masquerade has pretty similar deduction mechanics, but ends up feeling more like an adventure game or VN just because you have a protagonist character who's actively involved in the plot
gulbanana.au
we'd need telepathy (or a lot of interviews) to know the direct inspirations, but it's fun to try and find the bones of the genre regardless

also a great game - i'm not sure why it didn't pop into my head when considering about this taxonomy. i'll go and think about how it might fit in!

i've been meaning to play those, thanks for the reminder!
