As lots of new people are connecting here… A little introduction.

Jay Gunn is my writing nom de plume for writing and illustrating books, comics and graphic novels.

Otherwise known as Jason Wilson - a video game designer and art director of mostly spooky cult video games (“MediEvil” etc).

The best thing about nature is that it’s healthy, restorative and free and doesn’t keep putting up its subscription prices every other month.

All the beautiful flora and fauna to uncover during the autumn season in which all the animals of the New Forest are allowed to wonder freely.

My weekend away from screens.

Joyous!

Woah! This one totally passed me by. 😃

I so miss using my imagination and writing/drawing/game design skills.

Will return to the coal face when the time allows.

Been meaning to play that one for a while, will play it soon.

Yes, that was a neat idea and the game was pretty good for its time.

There are a few upcoming village resource games in which you maintain a lovely village to attract guests/finances and then you must feed on them during the night while covering up your vampiric identity so as not to deter more guests. 🧛‍♂️ 😄

See also - being a vampire in Oblivion/Skyrim.

I had totally forgotten about that game. I was aware of it at the time but never got around to playing it.

Giving me “Prison” (film) vibes and the prison level from “Ghosthunter” (PS2 game).

I’m aware of Pumpkin Jack but have never played it. 😁

Will have to check out mouthwashing.

Let me know your favourite spooky/horror/creepy games (AAA or indie) that are not Silent Hill or Res’ Evil related.

Bring on the dark October vibes!

Finally caught up with “Weapons.”

Great creepy modern fairytale.

It’s been such a strong year for original horror films.

Plus grifters flooding the online market places (not just games) with low quality content is another issue. With the older traditional publishing models there was at least a level of quality/effort that was expected in order to be published.

Interesting thread. The decline of easily available curated print and physical media and barely curated online portals (Steam etc) stuffed full of ‘content’ that crowd out the good and interesting titles is all part of the problem in the past decade.
Will only get worse with generative AI dirge.

Seems to me that the fact that interested people can’t find games they find interesting and maybe don’t even know they exist is (a) obvs true so dunking on it is dumb and (b) a massive fucking problem for the artform that the corporate sector of the industry has no interest *at all* in solving

You could have a word with @koochew.bsky.social about it as I chatted to Stuart Buck about that The Keep production art that you own - he asked if they could scan it for extra materials.

Hurrah! Got back my lunch break earlier to find this package waiting for me on my doorstep… the documentary film on the (un)making of Michael Mann’s ill fated but fascinating “The Keep.”

It’s been such a long wait that I feel that I was entombed in The Keep for all this time! 😅

Jeez… I forgot that America invented filmmaking and movies and all the production craft that goes along with making film productions.

🙄

Super excited to see it. Going to watch it with Graham Humphreys who is as big a fan/fascinated as I am. 😁

And a huge thanks to The Black Horse pub for regaling us with stories of ghostly sightings and for showing us the site of the strange arcane goings on in the attic of the old inn.

Last weekend I did an impromptu ghost walk of Britain’s most haunted village of Pluckley. Gathered up my dear spooky friends and off we went… from haunted family crypts, old houses, a bakery and an inn/pub.

Chills, tales, a few spooky moments and lots of fun.
