Project manager @mikaelalm.bsky.social presents the project as an exemple of a research infrastructure project at "Things That Matter: Material & Culture in/for the Digital Age" at Bern University. What work goes into the creation of a digitised collection?

Master's workshop continues! Thesis on two case studies on claims of compensation against Lübeck in the 16th century (chaired by @mouseemperor.bsky.social), and I just learned that OpenAI's online ChatGTP function recognises Middle Low German elements in Early New German texts.

Preparations for next week's 'Early Modern Christmas' at @uu.se: the Department of History's annual Master's Workshop, with six theses (by second-year students) and seven thesis proposals (by first-year students) from the Early Modern Master's Programme. Fabulous!

I have a book! It is actually real!
A book, or more specifically my doctoral thesis, "Wealth, Consumption, and Industriousness: Evidence from southern Sweden, 1570-1860". The cover is a painting of woman, dressed in a flowing yellow skirt with a pink blouse and white cap, sitting on a green holstered chair resting her eyes next to a spindle with a ball of yarn in her hand. Her foot rests on a foot stool matching the chair she is sitting on, and on the table she is leaning on is a small basket with balls of yarn.

Excellent lecture today by @dcvanderlinden.bsky.social and Rebekah Ahrendt on the Brienne collection and 'Dirty Metadata and Clean Cataloguing'. This was the last lecture organised by the project. It couldn't have had a better ending!

The @uu.se history students' association invited me as a guest lecturer tonight. Not only were they the sweetest, most engaged audience I've ever had, they also *gave me flowers*. I think I've peaked now, job-wise.

The EMMRN hosts a peer-to-peer research tool designed to connect people who need photographs of pieces of marginalia with people who can take those photographs. The site also hosts a blog about marginalia and facilitates a network of researchers who use marginalia in their research.
