It's known to other alchemist, even though many have given up searching for it, but for everyone else its little more than a myth peddled by charlatans.

Personal, she peruses the cure out of sense of naïve charity and fulfilling an obligation. If it were academic she would have come to the same conclusions of many other alchemist and given up on her search.

She's part of an order of alchemist, but alchemist tend to only help one another with the expectation of gaining something in return. So her search is mostly her own, with some occasional transactional alliances.

Alchemy's biggest downside is that its in a constant downward spiral as the knowledge gained from its initial revelation is increasingly lost. There's lots of pushback, as most non-alchemist view alchemist as charitarians and the art to have been fully replaced by modern sciences like chemistry.

Thank you!
In her pursuit she sought out the sepulchers of ancient alchemist, places where only artificial life stirred. To survive the disappearance of their masters these artificial beings amalgamated, becoming immense multi-headed beast whose warping bodies defy all reason.

She grew up during a turbulent time called the "Years of Troubles" one of the titular troubles being a deadly and highly contagious flu which landed her in an orphanage. The flu passed, but she wished to prevent anything like it from spreading again.

She discovered that its impossible, at least by normal means.
Her only hint towards a way it could be achieved is a sapphire left to her. With the Sapphire Crowns being what the mythical progenitors of alchemy used to gain divine revelations allowing them to achieve even the impossible.

She was "adopted" (or perhaps more accurately sold to) a legendary alchemist named Ouroboros who was trying to find someone he could mold into his heir. She had an aptitude in the art that allowed her to become his only surviving student, and consequently a master alchemist.

What kind of illusions can he use/does his name relate to his powers?

Sounds fun (also wanted an excuse to write something for my characters)
Here's Panacea, an alchemist pursing the miracle cure sharing her name.
