They’ve done studies that show that knowing how a story ends does not affect one’s enjoyment of a piece of media.
Regardless of that, if some game/movie/book/etc. is only good if you don’t know the twists then the thing is bad.

I more willing to believe that he knew better, but wanted to find a way to give his family some form of continued income after he passed. Not so much a “didn’t know” as a “didn’t care”

I hate to belabor the point, but the USA was still an authoritarian rule after the revolution. It wasn’t until really the voting rights act that we could claim that the USA wasn’t an authoritarian state.
