First drone footage of #CycloneJude impact shows devastation from winds & widespread flooding in #Mozambique’s #Nampula province. This is the *third* cyclone of the current season - a large scale response will be needed to support the 100s of thousands of people being impacted.

#CycloneJude hitting #Mozambique now, threatening destruction across Nampula & Zambezia. Around 1m people at risk, with 1200 schools and 120 health care facilities likely to be put out of action. UNICEF is on the ground, ready to respond, but needs will likely exceed capacity.

Another cyclone making its way towards #Mozambique, predicted to hit Nampula on Sunday evening. This is the third of the season... @unicef.org is preparing to respond and is deploying staff and supplies to ensure we can quickly provide support to affected children and families.

Another 2 cyclone systems in the Indian Ocean / #Mozambique channel. Not projected to hit Mozambique (Madagascar seemingly at greater risk) but clearly shows the elevated risk of climate shocks in this region - Mozambique already having been hit hard by Cyclones #Chido & #Dikeledi this season.

#CycloneChido has made landfall near Pemba, in northern #Mozambique’s #CaboDelgado province. @unicef.org is very concerned about immediate and longer term impacts on an already very vulnerable population. We are on the ground, working with partners and government to respond.

Meteofrance now predicting #CycloneChido will evolve into a Very Intense Tropical Cyclone, implying wind speeds over 213km/h.

Cyclone #Chido now forecast to hit #Pemba, provincial capital of #CaboDelgado, as an intense tropical cyclone. with winds potentially exceeding 200km/h. Really the last thing Cabo Delgado needs, on top of multiple other challenges. UNICEF preparing to respond.

Tropical cyclone #Chido appearing to pick up speed as it heads past coast of Madagascar and on to #Mozambique. Impact in Nampula province, where almost 4/5 households don't have access to sanitation & over 1/2 don't have access to safe water, would have major negative consequences.
