Fauvist and vivid abstract paintings, plus pencil sketches, impressionist style painting and cubist paintings.

I paint for fun and relaxation and experiment a lot. Probably 50% of my paintings don't work.

A couple of my paintings from 2024, The right hand one pays homage to the extreme Fauvist style.

This is a miniature canvas which sits on a wooden easel. Cubist style faceless hooded ghost. The thin face is all black and the lower section is mainly blue tints with the top half reds, oranges and purples. The hood is white and light pinky purples and blues to give a radiance effect against the other bold colours. The right hand side is a black "stripe" fading into a prussian blue to give the perception of night.

On the left is a cottage in Scotland painted in the style of Maude Lewis (so I have been told) who is a leading Canadian Folk Artist. the sky is blue with a show covered mountain fairly central making the backdrop. There is a forest of pine trees behind a grey cottage with a dormer window in the roof. The roof is covered with snow as it the ground. On both sides of the cottage are bushes with snow covering but you can still see the golden leaves. On the far left are more pine trees At the front is a wooden 2 bar fence and the edge of the road at the bottom showing 3 reflector poles situated to protect the fence from cars. a vivid abstract cottage landscape. The cottage is at avout 35 degrees to head on. The thatched roof with a chimney either end and 3 dormers facing the front. The front walls are a sandy orange brick colour. The foreground is a mix of reds, oranges and dark green. The sky is red above the cottage transcending into blues and purples. On the right the sky is lighter with lilacs and yellow orange with the top corner darker purples. the colours belnd but have definition with irregular borders.

Here is a Fauvist style butterfly, This is the centre of a much larger portrait picture. Ironically it looked much better towards the start of the painting and gradually went downhill. #art #Fauvist
a Fauvist style butterfly in a variety of colours with "eyes on each of the 4 wings. The body is a four piece spiral and the antenna are very fine and curl inwards at the end. The background is a blend of yellows and creams with various shades of blue, green, orange, red and lilacs. The bottom of the painting is a row of poppies of different shades of red with black centres.

I was given a set of oils in a traditional impressionist palette so I painted these as part of a series. Daisies on the left and moon flowers on the right. I bet you can guess which painter was my inspiration.
