Maryland systems engineer and cybersecurity expert-ish.

I occasionally jump up and down to ensure I haven't gained the power of flight.
I am mildly annoyed that I must now police my use of em dashes, especially in my college courses, because people assume they indicate the use of #AI. I used them before they were cool! www.msn.com/en-us/techno...

The front porch has come alive with #birds. Here's a picture of the house #finch #nestlings that have taken over the Christmas tree that never got put away.

"There is no direct-to-consumer streaming option — except for the pricey and blackout-ridden MLB.tv — for fans who have cut the cord."

In case anyone is interested, here are the results when querying the #Grok #AI (x.ai): "How would you evaluate five bullet points from federal employees to determine their productivity?" I ran the query at a friend's request.

Having dropped out of college at the end of my junior year, returning to finish my degree decades later is as tiresome as I expected.

Importing this @volts.wtf thread from the bad place. It opens with a link to a piece that used official data to establish that yes, crime rates are indeed very much down recently. But here’s the thing, Project 2025’s Trump 2.0 promises to destroy that world in which we can “know” things like this.

#Maryland drivers, please clean the #snow off of your cars. I have been smacked with the castoffs from too many Honda Fits where only the driver-side windshield has been cleared. I am pretty sure you can reach the top.

I've been looking for simple guidance for non-technical people on how to notice and avoid scams. While there are many resources online, I haven't been able to find much that is simple and short. But I did find this from the FTC:

The same day as my last post about my recent lack of text spam, I came home to hear about a family member who was minutes away from transferring $50K to a fraudster before they were caught. They were claiming to be police and had spoofed the local police department's number. There were threats.

Text spam has dropped significantly for me in the last month. That is until Wells Fargo threatened to "cankle" my account. Since I don't have a WF account, I'm okay with the swollen ankle.

Though not a superhero adopted at a young age by my parents, as I had believed for years, I survived the emotional blow that came with realizing my normality and moved on. However, I occasionally jump up and down to ensure that I haven’t gained the power of flight.
