They're a series of found footage horror movies about a guy who disappears in the desert near Nevada I think. Told in a faux documentary style and they just have some of the greatest payoff!

Yes! The entire last half of the first one and the basement scene in the second movie with the radio playing are some of the only horror movies to actually scare me.
