Sami Zubaida my mentor, teacher and dear friend has passed away. He was a brilliant sociologist, a fantastic cook and wonderful host who held countless parties at his beautiful home. Words can't express how much he'll be missed. My ostad forever.

The US lost so much Iranian talent with Muslim Ban 1.0, much of it forever, as I wrote about in 2017. Incredible when you consider Iran invests 12 years of resources to educate it’s students, only to lose them to overseas, now mostly Canada and Europe.
