We will have victories and setbacks, good days and bad. We must understand that this will not be over in one election or with the defeat of any one candidate. This is the fight of our generation, and it will take time. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/10-t...

First days in Japan
Them: Would you like some natto?
Me: What’s na.. oh, wow. Um, no thank you. けっこです。
A few years later…
Them: Would you like some natto?
Me: いただきます! BTW do you have 大粒?Also, how about a raw egg, negi, kimchi, wasabi, and からし?
WAIT! WTF I just say?!?!?😲

Them: Check out my latest video about Japan! Here’s the link!
Me: That’s pretty cool. It’s interesting though, there’s you, scenery, and food but you hardly talk to Japanese people. If you do, you’re making silly comments that only you would understand.
Them: But it’s a video of MY Japan.
Me: 😬

Them: Japanese people aren’t happy. I read a survey.
Me: Do you think that it’s possible that being an isolated island nation that was closed off from the rest of the word for most of it’s history that “happiness” is thought of in a very different way?
Them: Here’s the link to the survey
Me: 🤣

While it does give you a bit of an ego bump, if a Japanese person in Japan says you speak good Japanese, take it with a mountain of salt. 😄

Do you really love Japan and want to live here forever or are you just running away from something?

Not judging but knowing the difference is gonna help a lot in the future.

Them: I love Japan! It’s so clean and pretty!
Me: Why did you leave that bottle by the stop sign?
Them: Theres no garbage cans anywhere.
Me: 🤨

FYI: Konbinis have garbage cans. Carry your trash and throw it away.

Them: I could never live in Japan long term
Me: Oh really? Why?
Them: Japanese people are weird.
Me: Really? How much Japanese do you speak again?
Them: None, why?
Me: 🤣

Foreigners in Japan have this weird tendency to think because our culture is unique, that it needs to be fixed.

Foreigners visiting Japan:
“Just came back from the dream country I always wanted to visit. Here’s how to fix everything”… 🤨
