I agree. But FIFA doesn’t have any problem with authoritarians. It’s not as if Qatar was a beacon of liberal democracy. I’ll only watch the matches in Mexico & Canada. And $600 a seat is nuts in a group stage

But this bill wouldn't defund anything except for FEMA and other things, weakened already (thanks, Musk), but still. The only way to defund ICE is to have Congress and the White House (latter not needed if Democrats have 2/3 of Congress, which is a very tall ask)

would be nice if you didn't (or at least send them to Canada and Mexico only. FIFA has played nice with authoritarians for decades, but depriving them of oxygen is the only way they'll listen.

these nutjobs in ICE wouldn't be hired for government jobs at any level. They're playing Rambo in cities, FFS, and a police officer who does that gets a desk job, suspended and criminally charged (at state level).

perhaps reflecting that there are actually fascists in our government, and not complain that the opposition isn't doing enough. There's no left-wing army that can be mobilized, and even then, civil war isn't a good idea.

regular street crime. tragic but there's absolutely NO talking points that make sense of this. If the end goal is to prevent people from taking mass transit or lock up people in jail with mental illness, good luck with that.
