8. This is her theme song. Her name was inspired by “27 Jennifers” by Mike Doughty. The version I remember hearing on the radio was a lot softer. I prefer that one, but the lyrics are what piqued my interest.

#WritingLifeMonthly Researching. All the stuff we take for granted--like favorite song lyrics and book quotes--can’t be easily included. I understand giving credit where credit is due, but omitting or truncating those things makes the written world feel less real to me.

6.. Since we're talking about my own work, drafting, because anything goes. And since I usually have a pretty good idea what I want to write, it's easy for me.

They’re all a fun bunch, but probably Donald. He’s the epitome of a great mentor and friend. Good sense of humor, good listener, and can talk for hours about anything and make it engaging. He believes--as do I--that pop culture should be taken seriously; it makes life interesting.

My family pets don't hang out with me. (We have a lovebird and a very timid poodle). But I always keep a rotating bunch of plushies on my desk. Today it's Sammy🐰 and Tube. 🐛

#WritingLifeMonthly 2. “A House Between The Sea And Sky” by Beth Cato. It combines 2 genres I don’t usually read--historical fiction and magical realism--in an interesting way.

I've been updating my bookshelf recently, shifting from digital to physical copies. My new copy of @erinmorgenstern.bsky.social The Night Circus. This book is one I spend a lot of time daydreaming about. Yours?

I may duck in and out of this, My book is at least 5 years old, but I never did anything with it--and if getting to know me and my writing helps people get to know me as an editor, that's great! 🙂

#WritingLifeMonthly 29. I have written some fanfiction with sci-fi elements & it was fun. Some of them were a crossover with my novel MCs.😂 But there are always romantic elements to my writing. My brain isn’t wired to do an entire series, though I have tremendous respect for those who write them.

#WritingLifeMonthly 22. In my fantasy world, instant earnings. I don’t take royalties
--long story--but I’d be happy with even a small amount.

#WritingLifeMonthly 20. How important is ownership to you? Not very. I just wrote my novel for fun. If somebody wanted to, say, write fan fiction about my characters, I’d be flattered.

Nobody will remember:
- your salary
- how “busy you were”
- how many hours you worked

People will remember:
-An 'oxymoron' is an oxymoron.

oxys (sharp, keen) + mōros (foolish) = oxymoron

#WritingLifeMonthly 19. Do you love talking to readers?
I’ve never had a chance to do that, as I didn’t market my novel for many reasons. If I had the chance, I’d do it on a small scale, and probably over socials.

#WritingLifeMonthly 18. Would you trade prestige for profit?

I don’t write for either. I write because I want to. Personally, I feel that being creative for profit takes all the fun out of it. Plus I hate attention, making each of those options a nightmare.
