5/5 I'm someone who really enjoys learning about the civil rights movement and this was gold. This changed my perspective about gun ownership. More BIPOC baby leftists (who don't have a specific ideology) should read this book

5/5 it's my favorite nonfiction so far this year. This book gave me so much perspective on life, on why my organizing failed and even on how I should view the future. Could not recommend this book enough

4/5 I think I read this book at the right time in my life. There's something relatable about the main protagonist and her dealing with her family. Hopeful and encouraging is how I felt reading this book

This was my fiction LGBT read.

4/5 it's elf smut but I felt with the flowery writing, it felt like it was a cut above the rest. I felt classy while reading this smut. There are some plot issues I had but I think overall everything came together.

3/5 I was expecting something more academic. I just felt "meh" throughout the book tbh.

4/5 this is one of the most thorough books on Gwangju Uprising. It's a thick 400+ book but it's not dense. Heavily researched and if this piece of history was ever something u're interested in reading, I highly recommend this book.

I didn't finish TBH. The font was too small and I'm losing steam for reading, 😔.

Said writing is surprisingly easy to read. It's just the stuff he says feels obvious to me, I got bored. 🥱

3/5 a quick easy read. I appreciated it for what it was, an escapist romance. I just think everything felt too "perfect", borderline trope. It's touching to see how positivity the intimacy affected the two disabled characters.

1/5 you can tell that this book was clearly written in 2004; the sexism and homophobia. Honestly, this is the most superficial take on punk.

5/5 I devoured this book in a day! The interesting world building and captivating love story between the two characters. This was such a a fun read.

I wanna talk about the 8 remaining Alternative Marks and speculate about who they are and what I think makes them different from main canon Mark (other than they are evil) #Invincible

1/5 this is my first DNF. I'm 156 pages in and I'm tired of screaming "divorce this man!" for the last hour. It's Free Palestine and Free this Palestinian woman from her dreadful husband!

3.5/5 I enjoyed this teen book a lot better. There's less characters and has a theme of not trying to please everyone around you. This book is for the people pleasers who needs to draw more boundaries.

Reading the works of Black Communist women from the 1920's- 1960 gave me more insight on the nature of the work that needs to be done. They were the pioneers of fighting back the issues were facing today. Also this book gave me a new profound appreciation of Claudia Jones's writing. 4/5

3/5 typical teen drama. I mixed up a lot of the characters. Very low stakes slice of life story that's actually suitable for teens. Maybe if I read fluffy teen fic like this book instead watching teen dramas (Skins/Gossip Girl/Euphoria), I would be less messed up.

5/5 I really enjoyed RF Kuang's Babel. You can tell that Kuang really does love language and this was a well researched book. It had so much to say about colonization. I can see the hype.

There's too many characters. The twist doesn't make sense based on the lore of the story. The trials felt like different variety of relay races. 3/5

good world building. The twist made sense. The two lead characters, Yadriel & Julian, had a compelling stakes. Their were too many characters. Could have done more with Maritza. Overall will read the sequel. 4/5

This is my library fiction pick. It's an teen fic romance. It was a small introduction to Eid and aspect of Muslim culture for me. The local politics were very unrealistic but I respect this book for what it is, a light and easy read. 3/5

This was my favorite read so far this year. It's has an gripping premise that hooks u in and raises interesting questions about Black identity and how to heal from racial trauma. I can never look at a body of water the same way. 5/5

Hooks has a way of saying something that is profoundly true & makes u wonder how u never thought of this before. It's surprisingly spiritual/religious. Made me realize how awesome my husband is. Booktok did overhype this book though. 4/5

Beautiful book cover. Sadly a more forgettable read. Needed more revolutionary optimism. 3/5

This was by far my favorite book because it was such a comprehensive history lesson that span over 22 countries and how it all connects back to US.

Also, We see thru history that the countries that took the hard-line Marxist stance (vs the democratic socialist) are the ones still standing.
