That is, to the best of my knowledge, actually false. From what I recall, Cygames just did some due diligence on behalf of the IRL horses' owners to discourage it.
The yakuza aren't going to break kneecaps. But these are creatures their owners and trainers don't necessarily want to see *that* way.

The version I heard was a trainer seeing a WIP Gold Ship and commenting that the real horse is weirder.
I guess if that's true, the devs understood the assignment!

There are certain horses, at least in the anime, that are fictional stand-ins because the devs couldn't get the rights to depict the real horses, but yeah. They're real.
