Needless to say my parents won that battle. They also didn’t marry until they were sure about their feelings for eachother so I attended the wedding :) 49 years for them next year.

Similar situation here. Both parents born in the 50s so were in segregated schools that were later desegregated. Hell, because my parents were different ethnicities, one parent from each side wanted me gone. In 1970s WV, black men and white women didn’t date and they sure as hell didn’t have kids.
