Yes, we’re all guilty of that one I think, I blame it on positive thinking. I like the scale-to-zero feature some managed services in clouds provide though. Perfect for smaller stuff that isn’t constantly serving requests.

Yep. But for a lot of the bread-and-butter coding it seems quite manageable though. Receive a request, check a cache, read a db, formulate a response. Run it on a cloud with auto-scaling. But even simple problems often have complex solutions. Is it boredom that drives the complexity?
