1st person vs 3rd of the same scene. I think about them both a lot but I do find myself more... invested? In 1st person
“You did, but I don’t know if I trust your… reputation to keep up with that.” I snort, shaking my head. “My reputation? I do not think I understand what you are implying, sir.” I can’t help but to hold back the grin that threatens to overtake me, my voice still flat and frustrated. “Rich old man with too much time on his hands, only willing to help when it suits your needs more than anything else.” Ilias’ voice is flat as he continues to glare at me from across the table. I can feel myself go cold and I turn that icy glare towards Ilias who doesn’t back down, which is quite refreshing. Old man? Interesting. Not exactly true, but also perfectly accurate. “Now now, Ilias. You do not believe all the rumors you hear about someone, do you?” There’s some humor in my words as I lean over the table to look at the man. Maybe he’s being a bit of a hypocrite here. It wouldn’t be the first time. “One’s about wealthy bastards from an ancient city, maybe. They typically hold true.” Well, he wishes he could counter that. “...I can not say you are wrong on that front.” I laugh, standing straight once more, letting the genuine humor from Ilias’ words show in my expression and laugh. Ilias huffs and shakes his head, crossing his arms. “Nonetheless, I am still here to help this Institute. It means quite a lot to me, with the research it has done over the years. I am here to help. It is not even on the list of things I would want – for this Institute to fall.” I level a look at Ilias, words serious as I say them. We stare at one another for a moment before Ilias sighs. “Fine. Just don’t act like you’re the most important one here.” I wave a hand. “My reputation? I do not think I understand what you are implying, sir.” Though the man’s voice implies otherwise, he’s holding back a grin. “Rich old man with too much time on his hands, only will help when it suits your needs more than anything else.” The man’s voice is flat as he continues to glare at the man across the table. For a moment there’s a slight temperature drop of the room as Christopher’s expression turns ever so slightly icy. ‘Old man? Yes, but also no.’ “Now now, Ilias. You do not believe all the rumors you hear about someone, do you?” There’s an icy humor in his voice as he leans over the table closer to Ilias. Maybe he’s being a bit of a hypocrite here. It wouldn’t be the first time. “Ones about wealthy pricks from Helimire usually hold true.” He counters. “...Well I can not say you are wrong on that front.” Christopher laughs, his mouth open wide as he does, showing off sharpened canines as he laughs. Standing up straight once again, grin still on his face after a moment. Ilias huffs and shakes his head. “Nonetheless, I am still here to help this Institute. It means quite a lot to me, with the research it does and such things. I am here to help. It is not even on the list of things I would want- for this institute to fall.” Christopher is serious at the end, leveling a look at Ilias. They stare each other down for a moment more before Ilias sighs. “Fine. Just don’t act like you’re the most important one here.” Christopher puts a hand over his heart in mock shock.
