zombie. mannequin. robot. statue.
Thank you, if they were released today they’d be close to $350 online exclusives. They’d wrap them in a holographic paper - window pain box à la “Mean girls bratz” and be online exclusive.

we had it so good. it was a gilded age. let’s never forget.

also a game in the 90s where a woman uses her brain to solve puzzles was legendary. the idea that lara only “fit” serious storytelling once she ditched certain outfits is frustrating at best, her male counterparts never have this debate to deal with.

i get what you mean about the tone shift, i love the survivor trilogy too, in part, but saying the old games weren’t serious or deep kinda misses the mark. the originals were already dark, weird, and way more layered than people give them credit for.

the modernization wasn’t the issue it was the way it implied her legacy wasn’t already strong. so yeah, feels like you missed where i was coming from a bit.

what i was talking about was how the trilogy framed her earlier versions, like she had to be “fixed” or covered up to be taken seriously. that’s sexist. and ignores her legacy.
December 12, 2025 at 6:06 PM
i get that, and i’m not denying the survivor games sold well or that she had great moments in them. but that kinda proves my point wasn’t about sales or her not being badass.

agreed love lara in pants, and the arizona fit in tr3 is one of my faves. imo lara’s a powerhouse no matter what. the survivor trilogy tried to modernize her, but the feminism felt performative, ignoring her legacy and impact, like she had to be covered up to be respected.

Yes, iconic for sure.
But, they’re both unified lara.
