#YIMBY for market & social housing, rides a #bicycle 🚲, Hamilton, the best place to raze a child
Wasn't aware of this existing, so thanks!

I question the utility of such a sign, considering the specificity of it to a single individual, but glad to know that there's a specific area this information signage comes from.

I do continue to wonder if they are reviewed and removed at some point.

I'm very curious about them. Is there a request form, do you need to meet certain criteria, does severity of an impairment matter, is there a cost involved?

I find it incredibly odd to just see a sign that says "Autistic Child" everytime I go down a certain area.

Do these exist in Quebec @ohtheurbanity.bsky.social ?

Not to my knowledge, I watch all of his videos, but don't use Twitter/X which I know he posts on. If you find an example of such I'd love to see it.

I could see him commenting on the fact that many Canadians think it would be the worst thing to happen culturally but it wouldn't be, and I'd disagree

Oh absolutely, we don't sound that silly!

Was partly responding to Lanrick and other commenters calling JJ a clown. If this is how people respond to moderate conservatives (JJ hates Trump) then it's no wonder the discourse is toxic. The left often acts holier than thou, and it's frustrating.

I also appreciate his perspective as a more moderate conservative, because as someone who is self described as a liberal, I think it's important to not be fed by an echo chamber.

I don't agree with JJ on his opinions that Canada is America, and is defined by America, but I do think his thoughts on this topic and others are relevant and thoughtful in many circumstances. I don't think you have to agree with every thought someone has to listen to them.

I just follow less political people and orgs. I basically see and consume almost no US politics. Even on Twitter, I never really saw the toxic discussions because I just didn't follow people that shared them. Rage and hate desire attention, I just ignore it, and don't fan the flames.

When I delegated to the LRT subcommittee I made clear that while I do think there can be further improvements to the public realm for pedestrians & cyclists, ultimately Hamilton LRT is a rapid transit project & must be prioritized as such. Even cyclists should have to wait for the 200 person train.

We'll never be the Netherlands, but we can make it so much better here by pushing for improvements, and Montreal is a great example. I'd rather walk through Montreal than Orlando despite both being on the same continent.

One of my favourite videos was about continuous/raised sidewalk. It showed that we could build differently in a way that would make things safer, & that the Dutch reviewed road design as common incident sites. Those videos showed what to advocate here. Now the videos are often just "NA bad".

I find there's a lot of praise for Europe, but many fail to point out the failures of Europe. I loved visiting Portugal, but the cycling infrastructure was terrible. Japan similarly lacks good infrastructure, and Hiroshima specifically had terrible transit.

Many places aren't perfect.

Bro, people watch baseball while driving. They can fuck right off, I'm going to listen to music. Also what exactly am I listening for? My head hitting their oversized brodozer?
