It's a fantastic read!

I've read the story. The issue being roads such as mine are not defined as boundary roads per the studies. Yet they pick up more traffic as cars (and lorries) reroute. So my road and area is now more dangerous than before the LTNs nearby were implemented.

yes I have made the Council aware of it.

It isn't just boundary roads that pick up displaced traffic as it reroutes. My area is now full of rat-runners. Not a boundary road.

Entirely plausible because the study covers a limited range of roads and not all impacted by LTNs as traffic reroutes.

Of course this study ignores all the traffic displaced beyond the boundary roads. Such is this lorry in my "residential road" today. Definitely not safer.

Your journalism completely failed to engage with what was happening to people. People's actual experience of LTNs being just an inconvenience to you when it didn't fit your narrative.

This is my road two+ years on from the implementation of LTNs. Full of displaced traffic. Something you consistently dismissed and refused to acknowledge.

Yeah - I'm one of those 'older members' and it's just habit & custom. Easier than figuring out what else to wear. 🤔

Fantastic gig wasn't it!

I'm sorry - lost my cat 6 months ago and still miss him. Someone suggested i made a little shrine with photos and candles, and it really did help while I was coming to terms with it. Had it on one of his favourite spots at the top of the stairs. Kept it till it felt right to take down.

If you like Blackstar I'd recommend The Weather Station album "Ignorance"... Has a similar feel to it.

Seven constituencies - religion for most. Not sure about Clapham and Brixton Hill - high octane Guardian readers probably.

I can't believe I omitted Loop... also Elton John.

Big regrets are The Smiths - just slightly to young and Nirvana - young and clueless.
Most memorable I've seen:
Roxy Music
Nick Cave
Follakzoid
Soft Cell
Julian Cope
Neil Young
Status Quo (Glastonbury 2009 legends)
McCartney
PJ Harvey
Hawkwind
Echo & The Bunnymen
Pet Shop Boys
Blur
The Smile

It isn't just X though is it... it's the whole 'grifter' TV which is supported by mainstream media - BBC and ITV - shows like Jeremy Vine on 5 giving airteam to shrills with extreme views.

Why are they increasingly wanting people to pay for it then?

We just had a spate of genuine world class athletes in the 80s.. less so since then.

I think there isn’t a single adult in the UK that hasn’t witnessed the slow, painful death of a loved one. These stats reflect most people’s experience, let’s hope our MPs listen.

Like 1700+ traffic deaths a year?

Certainly that's the most likely way you'll get breakfast! I was recently travelling from Penzance to London and it was 3 hours before any sign of catering appeared.

First Great Western is awful.. Half the time the trolley car never appears or they've "no hot water", then other times you have to wait hours for it to appear. I frequently travel to the south west and have basically given up on it.
