Fenichel's theory is beautiful, yet I'm not fully satisfied because the perturbation eps is assumed to be irrespective to t. I feel like considering time-dependent perturbation, and Fenichel is not straightforwardly applicable anymore. Maybe I'm missing the latest literature.

Thank you. In Japan, we also occasionally have a similar department name such as "Mathematical Information" (which is basically applied math) and "Information Science and Technology" (just like EECS in US).

Thank you. The French (and maybe other European languages as well?) l'informatique looks quite interesting to me because Japanese does not have such a "bag" of words including ordinateur, IT, etc.

It is quite interesting. In Japanese, we usually use 計算機科学 (computer science) only in 理論計算機科学 (theoretical computer science), but 計算機科学 already sounds quite academic and authoritative.

Nice, this is really useful to me! So basically informatique covers a little bit wider field than purely academic computer science

That’s great to know. Speaking of this, even in UK I guess informations is somewhat common? I know the University of Edinburgh has the School of Informatics.

1) Do people use literal translation such as la science d’ordinateur, la science d’informatique, and l’ingénierie d’informatique (I guess)? Are they awkward?

2) Why is l’informatique so prevailing? How natural does it sound?
