A little bit of beauty covering the city tonight. The fleeting nature made the trip out to snap some photos worth it before the world disturbs it. I imagine we will all be looking for a bit of fleeting beauty in the world for a while so take the chance if you can.

Our report on TikTok, even more relevant today...
Just out! CHIP50.org report looking at who uses TikTok, given its imminent (possible) demise. The TLDR: it's disproportionately younger people, persons of color, women. But the rise of TikTok also tells us a lot about the relative stasis of the social media economy.

The bigger issue?

Red 3 is not impacting health.

Chemophobia is a distraction from REAL food-related issues:

1) food deserts
2) diets low in fiber
3) lack of healthcare
4) overall dietary composition
5) reducing cost of produce
6) implementing modern farming methods
7) exercise habits

Selecting a few of the recommendations from our National Academies report on science misinformation to highlight. Recommendation 2 is simply that universities & researchers need better procedures for publicizing research. There should be accountability for overhyping science.

I finished Wind and Truth and overall very happy where most things landed. Brandon has grown as a writer and the characters here benefit (well at least their characterization benefits) greatly. As always looking forward to more #cosmere.

In my experience it's the organic chemists in the inorganic lab that are most likely to set things on fire/blow things up.
So in science labs, everyone points at the chemists as being the most likely to start a fire

In chemistry labs, everyone specifies inorganic chemists as being the most likely to start a fire

Who do the inorganic chemists call out? #chemsky

This is also your research administrator's preferred date for you to have this done so they can check it.

Also remember that Synergistic Activities is now a separate document and not on your CV!
Did you know that the NSF suggested date to complete your Senior/Key Personnel documents is 14 days before a solicitation due date!

If you are submitting for the NSF CAREER due July 24th, ideally you have already worked in SciENcv to submit your biosketch, COA, and C&P!

This is one of the things I appreciate about Brandon Sanderson's. He acknowledges the army involved: staff at both his US and UK publisher, his in house team(dozens of people), to his alpha/Beta/gamma readers, as well as paid sensitivity/expertise readers. It must be 100 or more folks cited by name.
