Happily Married Generation Jones to Beloved. Daughter is referred to as DD (Darling Daughter). Cat is Resident Dictator, aka RD🐈‍⬛. Born and bred in Charleston, SC. If know, you know. I chose to be positive in a horrible world but I am 100% pro-people.
“A study” shows that women who smile are more likely to be assaulted. Okay. I can believe that. So wear a mask. Protect yourself from germs and creeps.

FYI. The Southeastern Wildlife Expo is in Charleston this coming weekend. A time where there will be a lot of pedestrians ignoring our traffic signs while trying to wear as much camouflage prints as possible. Also, I absolutely will not be going downtown for any reason. Thank you. Have a nice day.

The wildlife refuges open up from hunting to general usage tomorrow and Beloved is planning to go down to Bulls Island. On the way back he is planning to stop at Tractor Supply and buy RD🐈‍⬛ catnip… as he should.

Who else is scanning the internet instead of watching the Super-bowl? I’m at the age where it feels like it’s just an excuse to eat and drink and I can do that without the fanfare and while wearing comfortable clothes.

My grey hair is long and I wear it in a twist bun. DD is is upset that I don’t wear it down. Child, if I did people would mistaken me for Valerie and want to speak to Miracle Max.

DD commented on a car (Toyota?) that had a bold front but with slits with bars like a grill. She thought it was strange that it had a “tiny grill”. Using context clues- maybe electric? - is this might be like the early horseless carriages that had a carved horse figure head mounted on the front?

The Groundhog saw his shadow. Does that mean for the next 6 weeks Tom Cruz will not be in Texas?

After weeks using the new clothes iron, DD started putting away the iron and board. The new iron doesn’t fit the ironing board holder I’ve used for 30+ years. I will deal with it tomorrow.

My microwave died 2 months ago and I pushed through because of end of year expenses. I now feel it’s time to replace the microwave. Reheating almost messes the kitchen as much as cooking. Since Beloved will find the expense easier if it’s his idea I’m subtle mentioning it daily. Today 3 times.

My friends that live in colder places than me. (9a) my back porch light (led) is having trouble being bright in this “rare to us” cold temperature. What kind of outdoor light do you use?
February 2, 2026 at 12:05 AM
The 3/4 inch of snow has melted (mostly), the steps are clear (mostly) and the temperature is above freezing. However the temperature is predicted to freeze after dark. Tomorrow the Groundhog will look for his shadow- and love. Me, I’m not going out till everything is dry. Thank God I’m retired.

Somehow on the ⏰app I’m getting a very special topic of “what do I do with this strange alcove in my new house?” Then they give their own selection. Folks, I will always chose alcohol storage/serving or a cat tree area. Or both.

Charleston, SC doesn’t get snow often though we might this weekend. Is this a rule? 🎂

The ⏰app has videos of pets watching a belly dancer and moving and/or tail wagging like they are dancing along. Excuse me while I go to YT to see if I can find the video of the dancer. Then I’m going to see what RD🐈‍⬛ does.

FYI. 2:45 pm is a great time to go to my local Lowe’s. Not crowded and the sales people are out and offering to help. Cheerfully available to retrieve with a forklift a heavy crate 10 feet above the floor. Then opened the box and brought me my item. Best experience I’ve had in 2 years.

This week is hovering around freezing at night and staying below 60F during the day. (Thank you God for no winter storm here.) I really should plan to smoke some cheese. Any cheese that gets so hot that it melts through the grate will make a yummy cheese log.

The iron I bought 25 years ago ($20) has died. (Helped by my dropping it.) To get the features I bought for less than $20 now cost $160+. The iron I bought works but not great. It is designed to touch up clothes from the dryer. Not pressing a garment that I am making. 😔

Has Ted Cruz left Texas ahead of this storm?
January 24, 2026 at 2:05 AM
FYI. As far as this winter storm goes this house is more prepared for the care of Resident Dictator than its humans. I’m sure R.D. feels this is as it should be.

I justify the expense of camping gear by saying it multiple-task for disasters. I was thinking hurricanes. Camping last weekend taught me I’m in trouble if it’s cold. I’ve seen people using bread bags like a 2nd layer tube socks. Is that just for moisture or includes heat? Will newspaper bags work?
January 21, 2026 at 10:58 PM
Apparently the Simpsons has predicted a huge winter storm for 2026 that cripples the U.S. I’m still waiting for another prediction to come true. A funeral.

I’ve learned on the ⏰app that some people have their own personal people sized train/track that they run on their property. I use to run HO and N and was pleased with myself. If I become wealthy, there will be signs. 🚂

After looking at some of the predictions of the weather temperatures - I’m really glad that I don’t say “I’ll do that when hell freezes over.”
January 20, 2026 at 8:17 PM
Home by 8pm. The idea of waking up to rain was not good. At least I will be warm.
January 18, 2026 at 1:53 AM
Camp site set up, supper finished, heating pad for my bed heating up and comfortable around the fire. (We are not using state fire ring.) The weather apps are predicting rain Sunday morning. We might pack up tomorrow afternoon. 😔
