Typically thoughtful - and thought provoking - stuff from @dianecoyle1859.bsky.social on the urgent need to understand how AI disruption is playing out across society (for better and worse) and then respond accordingly. Another great contribution to the @pbe.co.uk 'Economics to improve lives' series

The numbers are stark: 58–68% LGBTQ+ young people surveyed report suicidal thoughts, & rates of anxiety, depression & self-harm are far higher than their non-LGBTQ+ peers.

Many LGBTQ+ young people face bullying at school, stigma at home, & rejection in wider society, often with little support. 2/7
A key stats card: Over half (58–68%) report suicidal thoughts.

As many as 1 in 5 say they’ve attempted suicide.

LGBTQ+ youth are twice as likely to be bullied at school.

They often face stigma or rejection at home and in wider society.

Rates of anxiety, depression, and self-harm are significantly higher than among their non-LGBTQ+ peers.

Wellbeing isn't a fringe idea - it tells us a lot about voter behaviour.
