I genuinely don't understand why Ofsted can't include a provision about schools having an in-house library. I get that it's then an internal cost for the school but if we insist on in it colleges and universities, why not schools?

Those of you frustrated by newspaper paywalls, your library probably has a free service for that. Most libraries offer digital access to databases with most major newspapers and magazines. Some even offer free accounts to specific individual newspapers.
I’m a public librarian in a degenerating democracy, and I am pleading: Care about your library. Use it. See what programs and events it offers. And pay attention to its governing body. See who the trustees are. Consider running yourself. Libraries will need all the community support they can get. 📚
