There are some techniques that use character stats, but Kicking at the moment is a group-trained technique, and oh yes the distance can be upgraded.

the Pin-Kick technique itself can have increased distance, and it inherits from any of the base Kick action's distance upgrades

kick + pin -> kick pinned enemies in a direction

charge -> body slam
