Pt. 5: Our only responsibility as artists is to ourselves, to stay true to our unique work that is constantly experiencing. That artwork is a remedy to the world. As my friend Bob said to me just two days ago, “Stop doing and start Being.”

Pt. 4: These three paintings are in an exhibit (larkandkey.com) called “Kindred Spirits.” I wanted to show a connection to nature, but my work is as much about my personal connection to the materials as it is about any subject matter. I feel a resonance in paint that is not in other materials.

Pt. 3: The mediums, pigments and solvents, have their chemical interactions occurring. We are stardust, are OF nature, not IN nature, therefore are we not mediums ourselves, having our own chemical reactions to our environments and our mediums?

Pt. 2: The artwork is made of the crunch of leaves, the bite of cold winter air, the conversation among a group of people, et al. Art history only looks at what the painting is of, not the movements of the body, the sounds and smells in the studio, all which are going into the painting as well.
