🔬 Genetic predisposition to the underlying trait (e.g., higher BMI) is associated with an increased risk of the corresponding side effect (e.g., weight gain).

A better understanding of antidepressant tolerability can help guide drug and dose choice, improving treatment outcomes.

🧬 CYP2C19 genetic variation has a role in the burden of side effects experienced by individuals taking antidepressants.
