This is what a 20% increase to subscriptions looks like. It's now nearly a full CAD grand/year. The industry is in shambles, mass unemployment, AI is taking our livelihoods away, inflation hasn't subsided, and salaries are dropping when you can find work. How do you think this'll play out?

Mindless unwinding doodle from last night. A dancing Yaksha.
A mythical Thai guardian called a Yaksha that protect temples. Dressed in golden armour and crown atop a grotesque blue-ish face with large overgrown canines. He dances a traditional Thai dance with long fingernails that accentuate the curves of the fingers. He's in front of a Thai flag.

I am not remotely close for October to end. I want to live in spooky season for another 3 months and only then will I accept the unbearable slide into jolly season.

In any case, have a few creature doodles I did a few years ago
Colored head drawings of 5 creatures. The first is a green sea creature with a grin showing large teeth. The second and third are versions of a Nosferatu (ancient looking vampires) one of which is bright pink and has large neck muscles for some reason. The fourth is a gorilla/wolf mix with either scars across its face or face paint. The artist couldnt decide. And the last is a nose-less goblin facing away from the viewer.

The man quietly finishes his prayer and says, "Hi Buddha, sorry for all the years of prayers without knowing the rest. I didn't mean to waste your time." The Buddha looks surprised. The man continues, "Only... I don't know the rest of the prayer so..." and the man then begins to chant the same exact prayer over and over again. Buddha slouches over with a look of defeat and mumbles, "Is this hell?"

We're back to the man in from to of his computer after discovering the meaning of the prayers. He's praying for Buddha once again. Buddha stands behind him. Same as previous image, Buddha looks up and sees it's the same man that's been wasting his time all these years. Buddha gets mad with flames from his head and in his eyes. He growls, "You again!" Buddha get's right up to the man with his hands around his head as if he's going to tear it off, mad as ever. He questions, "How long is this gonna take this time?!"

The man is searching for the meaning to the prayers online. He's surprised with his findings. Caption: Apparently, it isn't a prayer at all but a chant to give respect to Buddha and a request for him to bless your prayers and wishes. Several panels of the man in his younger years, saying the prayers over and over as the spirit of buddha stands over him waiting for the boy's wishes. After waiting, the Buddha asks, "what do you want?". No answer from the boy except the same prayer. Buddha exclaims, "I can't leave until you're done praying!". The boy continues praying for a panel, then stop when he's satisfied with himself, and walks away. The Buddha sighs, being summoned to stand there for no reason. Caption: So basically, all this time I've summoned Buddha and left him hanging. 4 separate panels of the boy growing in age, reciting the same prayer. over and over. Buddha is in each panel. Panel one, Buddha sits close to the boy staring at him. Panel two, Buddha is asleep in the background. Panel three, Buddha is tidying the house. Panel four, Buddha is in the background laying facedown on the floor, having given up.

Rough animation testing #ProcreateDreams Basically learned the app and blocked in anim entirely on a flight to Asia. What'd I learn? The app still needs a TON of dev to be used efficiently. I had to re-engineer my workflow to make this work. Thought this would take a day to do, ended up taking 5.

Last highlight for the day. The National #Museum of #Bangkok. We went to 3 different museums looking for Thai culture and heritage and this one is the most succinct. I may be Thai through birth but I'm an American through life and I've spent the last few years slowly discovering my heritage.
A museum display of traditional Thai masks used in traditional plays. Each mask represents different dieties and characters. All are intricately carved and painted bright colours. A broken off piece of a Thai temple made of rock. Three figures side by side are carved into the rock, each with their hands posed to pray, and wearing bracelets and Thai crowns. 2 large statues of a monk. The statue in front looks more realistic and was meant to be a more modern representation of monks. This one wears the traditional orange robe and holds his hand in front of him in a calm state. His hair is pulled up into a bun at the top of the head. The statue in the back, is a more stylized version of a monk that is more popularly know through the world. That monk also wears a robe but also has his hair drawn up to a point and a small crown adorning the top. One hand is down by his side, the other partially raised, palm facing away representing the first phase of prayer and meditation. He is also standing in front of small bench to sit and meditate.

#Coffee, I love coffee. We went to a few coffee shops and found some really great spots. One of which we visited several times cause it was so good. But I'm not listing that one here cause my heart goes to Gallery Drip Coffee for a few reasons. Disclaimer: my friend co-owns this cafe.

Since the resort is on a hill, every room and suite has amazing views. Especially the suites as they're higher and has an infinity pool on deck. And since you're on a steep hill, you can get carted everywhere in the resort for free. Fun little ride everyday!

Next: Best resort stay was on GohSamui at Nora Buri Resort. A high end resort located on a hillside. Pricey for Thailand but worth the $. We stayed in a suite which gave us our own private bungalow with pool and outdoor shower if you want. The bed faces the pool overlooking the ocean.

#Thailand highlights, part deux. Let's get specific this time around. Best meal: A small restaurant on the shores of a fishing village in the southern province of SuratThani, call PaThing. The whole place is a big patio on stilts overlooking the river inlet leading into the Gulf of Thailand.

Common in Thailand, utility poles can have dozens and dozens of wires spreading out in all directions which make it look haphazard and a mess. This one seems a little more organized.

Between meeting family, we stayed at a few resorts to unwind and relax. Low season means peace and quiet so long as we stayed away from the tourist hotspots.

Night markets are also a big thing in Asia. Unlike the west, these are free w/ hundreds of stalls/vendors. The difference between these and the prev are these are more pop-up and vendors change weekly or monthly. Some stay cause they're really good. Lot's of variety and obv everything's crazy cheap

People lounge around the tables leisurely eating food and socializing. There are hotspots set up at all the tables where patrons share meals. Tables surrounding a hotpot restaurant at the night market. Inside the restaurant, tables of ingredients are laid out for patrons to pick and choose for their hotpots which they cook at the table. A crowded aisle down the night market. This aisle is full of food stalls. Bright lights coming from every corner of the market make it bright as day.
