Dear protein design community: Is there a benchmarked way to stabilize fusion proteins with the newer methods (ProteinMPNN)? Stabilize the whole structure or every fusion partner individually? Any experience would be welcome.

Zolgensma’s $2M/dose price quickly became the standard for gene therapies.

Nine of them cost more than $2M. A tenth, approved in November, is predicted to run about $3.8M, just shy of the most expensive, which costs $4.25M/dose.
What a $2 Million Per Dose Gene Therapy Reveals About Drug Pricing
Taxpayers and charities helped develop Zolgensma. Then it debuted at a record price, ushering in a new class of wildly expensive drugs. Its story upends the widely held conception that high prices…

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.

Many industrially-important reactions (e.g. lipase-catalyzed biofuel production) involve substrates poorly soluble in water. How can we screen enzymes for these reactions? Samuel Thompson invented a new 'triple emulsion' platform for biphasic screening (1/n):

FACS‐Sortable Triple Emulsion Picoreactors for Screening Reactions in Biphasic Environments
Biphasic reactions can enhance reactions where the catalyst and substrate have different solvent preferences. This study optimizes triple emulsion picoreactors that encapsulate a biphasic solvent env...

Love this insight on the AI tools Alphafold 3, Boltz and Chai-1 in antibody engineering (my day job). “It appears that these models well understand how antibodies fold, but not how they bind.” Thanks @btnaughton.bsky.social
