And I do wonder how many of them are actually aware of what's coming, and are just ensuring the populace remains distracted and divided til they've earned the maximum amount of unspendable wealth and their luxury bunkers are ready.

It's only an issue if it affects people's livelihoods it seems. Doesn't matter if we cause more extinctions of the wild animals and planets we share this ancient planet with as long as some people are making money through it.
And of course these are not statements I agree with at all.

The climate change deniers do have a point that the models are wrong. They're wrong because there's so many other complex things like this that can't be easily predicted or evaluated as the earth hurtles towards a far different norm than the one that most complex life now adapted to.

At worst, it's hard to say, whether it becomes independent of us, or it becomes ever more restricting on the majority of the populace while being mostly controlled by a select few holding the reins that wish to maintain their position at the top regardless of the consequences for everyone else

At best it's a massive waste of energy with some niche uses, but is being propelled into more and more applications for the large firms behind it to justify the amount they've spent on it, where recognising it is an unnecessary mistake will speed up the collapse of the excitement driven bubble.

It must be comforting for them to only ever think of their attention seeking self inflicted martyr as if a school teacher throwing an absolutely ridiculous childish tantrum over being asked to refer to someone as "they" is some great casualty of an imagined war on Christianity.

Oh definitely agree, but I was running out of space in my comment so needed to remove the "" around "left".

And as neoliberal establishment parties of left and right let down their populaces over and over, it's understandable why there's such a growth in populist movements, but seems they're far more comfortable ensuring the populist right takes over than any sort of left to challenge root causes

Anyone else wish the UN was as powerful as conspiracy theorists like to think it is? And was proud to be at a big get together here in Ireland yesterday for the Palestinian cause, but definitely feels the ruling class of the powerful countries don't want this to stop at all.

I'm very leftist here, but i definitely think it's too early to say what his motives are or his political beliefs. All we know so far based on the messages inscribed on bullet casings is that he's antifascist (and I'm well aware that could be false reporting). Both left and right can dislike fascism

Got to love the double standards at play. It's absolutely fine when there's weekly school shootings or the intentional targeting of democrats (like the Minnesota event) but when it's one of their own (who's career is based on being as divisive and hateful as possible), it's a whole different story

The term "terrorist" is losing all meaning now and seems to mean "anyone that doesn't like us" now. I do hope journalists start asking folk to define the term when they assert such and such they killed was a terrorist.

And it's often idiots that convince themselves we were strict carnivores in the past, not recognising for most areas, the gatherer part of hunter-gatherer was much more important and where most of the calorie intake came from.

Damn our tendency as a species to regard what surrounds us in the natural world as mere commodities that are simply there to be utilised, owned and get rich from.
Maybe we wouldn't be in such a mess if we could see the real world more clearly, and not simply filtered through the human bubble

It would be absolutely horrendous and so chaotic with a sudden fall in order and breakdown of so many vital services so many depend on, but definitely feels like the longer it continues, the worse things will be for whoever (be them us or the other species we share this ancient planet with) survives

It's ridiculous that a very wealthy tiny minority of the global population simply take it as a given that they should control society, and if anyone complains they just throw childish tantrums.

Just have to feel bad for the folk that actually work there and do the work who suffer simply because the spoiled rich kid that bought the place is a massive POS.

At this point, you got to kind of laugh at the utter madness of it all, and wonder to yourself if this tragic situation has happened time and time again throughout the universe every time "intelligent" life has arisen. hopefully it's not totally a short term self destructive phenomena
