This expansionist rhetoric has rubbed the Saudis the wrong way, and took the wind out of normalisation sails. It is now repeated as a cautionary tale among officials.

It was only last week that Amr Moussa warned Saudis of Israel’s expansionist ambitions. They took the warning on board, it seems.
Historically speaking, Israel is, in fact, Egypt; the area is filled with evidence of the presence of Egyptians. (We can keep doing this forever).

The US State Department announcing it has *not* made an assessment that Israel is in violation of US law (in reference to the 30-day US deadline for Israel to improve conditions in Gaza) comes after 8 humanitarian organizations announced the opposite.
These 8 humanitarian organizations find Israel failing or insufficient on every single demand the US gave it last month to improve the situation in Gaza within 30 days.

Demonstrators arrested outside White House as they ask Biden admin to uphold law & enact arms embargo on Israel.

(Given the US letter 30 days ago suggesting policy "implications" if Israel didn't improve conditions in Gaza & that Israel failed criteria, Israel is therefore in violation of US law)
