Idea for a screeplay:

1. College grad gets an AI space job.

2. AI bubble pops.

3. College grad gets trapped in space while waiting for his employer to emerge from bankruptcy court.
OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman says in 10 years’ time college graduates will be working ‘some completely new, exciting, super well-paid’ job in space
While Bill Gates has said the two-day workweek could come within the next decade, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says Gen Alpha college graduates will be too busy planet-hopping.

If Congressional Dems vowed to bring law-breaking ICE agents to justice, to strip them of qualified immunity and release their names publicly, then that would at least make ICE think twice before detaining American citizens. Dem pols have a bully pulpit and they need to use it.
So I have the cover story in next month's TNR.

I interviewed the heads of police groups; immigration defense attorneys, ex-judges and ex-prosecutors; former DOJ and DHS officials, and the former head of Border Patrol.

They're all horrified at what we've seen, and they all fear what's coming.
Trump’s Immigration Nightmare: It Is Happening Here
With astonishing speed, the administration has toppled the most cherished pillars of a free society. And the experts agree: It’s all going to get much, much worse.

Look, it's not just a sternly worded letter, which Trump would ignore. And it's not just another bill, which Trump would ignore. @schumer.senate.gov is going to have the Senate sue the admin in court and get a ruling... which Trump will then ignore.
Sen. Chuck Schumer says he's introducing resolution to force DOJ into full release of Epstein files
Less than 10,000 pages of documents have been released so far, according to an NBC News count.

James Talarico: The Bible doesn't mention abortion or gay marriage, but it goes on and on about forgiving debt, liberating the poor, and healing the sick. The closest thing we have to the kingdom of heaven is a multiracial, multicultural democracy where power is truly shared among all people

If there's no enforcement or punishment mechanism, is it really a law in a "legal theory" sense? We all know that nobody will be punished for this Kennedy Center name change.

I guess @pbs.org liked getting their funding cut, because this post-speech analysis is insipid. Almost nothing about whether the speech was actually truthful.

Venezuela should just give Trump some kind of award. "Peace Prize of the Americas" or something similar. That'll put a stop to all of this.

Forget about Harris. I do think she's smart and would make a decent Prez, but there's no way she's winning the primaries.

What we really have to worry about is her campaign consultants. We have to make sure they stay as far away from the presidential campaign as possible.

If they're going to (illegally) make US citizens carry proof of citizenship everywhere, they could at least make Passport Cards free. And have the Feds pay all costs to get copies of supporting docs (like birth certificates, etc.).
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.

The Democratic Party is better than the GOP. But there are Dems who are just as bad on a wide range of issues. Each has different issues they're bad on, but they band together like some Voltron of suckitude. This often makes the Democratic Party just as bad as the GOP for those issues.

I wonder how the new tourist social media data dump requirements are going to work with the World Cup. Big-name players have the leverage to push back, so... are they just going to make an exemption? Temporarily stop the program? Repeal it after it becomes a mess?

Know your rights. Protect your neighbors.

New York is — and always will be — a city for all immigrants.

The Dem Pols who say to focus on "affordability" at the expense of everything else are the ones who will deliver some Rube Goldberg plan that helps very few people and just pisses everyone off. If you claim to be focused on affordability, then you actually need to deliver results.

At some point, Trump will order troops to block Dem legislators from entering the Capitol to vote on legislation. How Dems respond now will determine how troops react to that order. If Dems roll over now, there's no reason for troops to refuse to follow illegal orders.
For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Re: Trump calling the reporter stupid... Think how many store workers are going to spend the rest of this holiday silently putting up with customers calling them that and worse.

Our society condones this type of behavior. I don't like it, but I don't really find it surprising anymore.

Here's how the GOP gets a truce on redistricting:

1. Congress (including GOP members) passes a reasonable and fair Federal Constitutional Amendment and sends it to the states for ratification.

2. The states (including GOP states) ratify it.

Remember that Bush II weaponized the DOJ, and here we are, right back here again, but much, much worse. Dems have got to state a concrete plan to prevent this from happening again. I just don't understand why they aren't proposing plans to fix all of this.
