People will say like "I love the game, but hate the lockpicking mechanic" and I'm like what did he do?

I hate when businesses do this, just let me in man, I know you're in there

Here we see that winning almost every lane doesn't guarantee a victory. I'm still of two minds on this, because I never want victory to be CERTAIN, but man this has got to sting for the fictional coach of the Hot Test Pilots :/

Its round 2 of the #Meleeball season! Sharing in this form because its a little easier to digest, and breaking down one or two outcomes.
Thanks to League Lobster, which is what I used to schedule this season.

But even worse for the Bongos, but tomorrow is another day!

Still can't get over the Hot Test Pilots, what a team name...

More match results for #Meleeball!
A VERY bad night for the St. Nation Singers

So as it stands now each Coach rolls 1d12 and adds their bonus to determine the final score. As you can see from our first game, a higher bonus really doesn't guarantee a win- which is good! I still want things like upsets to happen, but at the same time I'm trying to keep it from getting too swingy
January 17, 2025 at 7:18 PM
So, each Strategy is compared down the line, and the winning Athletes add up their bonuses until the final bonus numbers are determined.
From here there's just one step left before we figure out who won, and its one of the things I'm really trying to test with this season
January 17, 2025 at 7:17 PM
Now, if two Athletes wind up using the same Strategy then the Athlete with the higher score would add that to the bonus (they just do a better job).
However, if both scores are still tied, like Barrett and Stewart here, then they were too evenly matched and basically cancelled each other out.
January 17, 2025 at 7:14 PM
So looking at a different game (mild spoilers) we see that Rodney is able to shoot through Pat's passing game, and then adds his Shooting score, 3, to the bonus.
January 17, 2025 at 7:13 PM
After the Coaches set the lineups they secretly determine a Strategy for each individual Athlete. Now, since I'm trying to be hands off for this playtest, the Strategies are randomly determined (that's what the 1, 2, 3's are).
But regardless, Strategies are then revealed simultaneously and resolved.
January 17, 2025 at 7:09 PM
When setting up the match Coaches lay out 5 athletes across from the opposing team. Each athlete is being played against the one across from them. Referring to the match above, Barrett Russel is going against our buddy Stewart.
But how does it work mechanically?
