Why not both? Lots of cancer research fundraisers take place in pretty lavish event spaces. It's a way of attracting the necessary funds.

That's a truly watershed event! I don't think most people realize how much that means. There are massive investment and pension funds that, according to their SEC-filed rules, can no longer buy US Bonds. Even if they want to keep doing so, they have to put it to a vote which will take time.

Just to be clear, "86," means to discard or cancel. It comes from the food service industry. It's not some stealthy way of saying "kill".

As far as I'm aware the accident is not known to be anyone's fault as yet. The ship lost power and was dragged by the current under the bridge, at least that's what's being reported. Had you heard something else?

Wait... wait... did Donald Trump just effectively say, "we should tax the rich?" What universe did I wake up in?!

As an actual artist who sometimes uses AI, my work looks like AI, whether I use it or not.

We need a constitutional amendment that solidifies the independence of the DoJ with oversight from Congress and only appointment authority (with Senate confirmation) by the President.

The problem is that everything is significant when you're at those fine margins. If you make Harris more palatable to middle America, maybe she makes up that million and a half vote gap. But true causal significance is a bigger issue and hard to measure.

I don't know the details of your husband's illness, but I've seen a great many people being hit super hard by a recent illnesses that put my mother in law in the ICU. Love to you and your family in this time of trouble. I hope the community can be a source of comfort.

What's the import duty on that plane?

Not for profit prisons?! Woah, woah! Where are these crazy ideas coming from?

No one was ever eating cats and dogs and no one was ever performing sex change operations in schools, so ... no change? Except for the financial impacts of capricious and irresponsible trade warring...

The really hard problem is fixing the election system so that it doesn't favor polarized candidates from just two parties #endfptp

Asking kids for their papers... this is not the country I grew up in.

I know it's a horrible and painful pill to swallow, but this is the wrong time. Impeachment without conviction is essentially meaningless. Our best bet right now is to help good people get elected in 2026 and then push for impeachment, hopefully with some Republican votes in the Senate.

This would have been just as true without "AI" to fear-monger about. Deception is always a menace.

The "defense" of this from those that support the ban has been "you can only fly the Confederate and Nazi flags 'temporarily,' and for 'educational purposes.'" Like the "white-coaters" from the 1970s where a man in a lab coat would say a few words before the action started so it's 'educational'.

Art theft? Or just copyright infringement?

NFTs as a technology are a fascinating and potentially impactful idea. The half baked image sales/scams around that technology was reprehensible.

Smoked teas are definitely a bit much for me at times. I swing like a pendulum from wanting MOAR SMOAK! to wanting just a nice, mellow longjing or milk oolong.

Not that it helps Jill's current issues, but I'd LOVE to see a teamup between her and @hangmanpage.bsky.social . I would think that creators-turned-writers who also do live performance must be a relatively small community. Those who do so with cheerful and kind-hearted humor...

That was wrong because people were venerating someone for murder. Same deal now. Nothing different except the talking points. I'll happily defend, "murder bad."
