Great song, well chosen. Kosmische Musik in its peak years. Too many genuinely great bands to list. Personally, still waiting for the return to Glasgow of Michael Rother and have Kraftwerk tickets for the middle of the year.

Precisely. And can a glib and shameless liar change his position?

I could use the Glaswegian vernacular…

Rhetorical question.

Not any obvious palatable courses available. Seems like the rational path to pursue for the moment.

Laziness on my part. Thanks for the correction - should have known better!

People like David are priceless, but quietly so. They do however give us hope for our better natures to succeed.

Suddenly the foreign policy posture of the Elysee over the last 70 years begins to make sense.

The reference to Fisher caught my eye, initially as an anachronism in a CofE parish. Prompted me to read your web page. What a fascinating period in the mid-20thC. Almost a part-proxy for the schizophrenia at the heart of the Anglican Church.

The one in Scotland (where TS is speaking).

You mean the original Aberdeen?
January 14, 2026 at 10:07 PM
Not a very arcane concept. Pretty widely understood in Scotland. Wheel has turned full circle. 1707 wasn’t “betrayal”. As with present trend to Indy, it was/is enlightened self-interest; rUK now in long-term trending economic & social decline. As George Stephanopolous said…(even if it takes time).

As the Blessed Margaret intimated, you stand in the middle of the road you get knocked down.

One of the genuinely heroic figures of the 20th century. Largely airbrushed due to his politics and human rights positions. Literally and figuratively, a giant.

If Harold Wilson was PM today we’d see Scotland and England notifying intent to withdraw from this abomination of a US World Cup
