Begotten is a good film because I really don't know what to say about it other than it grossed me out and it never left my brain I think about it almost everyday and God birthing and killing themselves or whatever the fudge happened

Finished this earlier this year. “Good” feels wrong, but it’s essential especially if you’re unaware of Japan’s brutal wartime history and efforts to suppress or erase it. It documents the Nanjing atrocities in detail and reveals facts many don’t know. Recommended.

Extremely short Chinese history: Japan invades China and commits horrific war crimes(lots of RAPE). China fights back with Soviet help. The losing side flees to Taiwan and builds a stable state. The winning side becomes the CCP and has spent decades trying (and struggling) to hold things together.

If you don’t understand 9/11, imagine feeling completely safe, then suddenly fearing for your life. America watched thousands die live on TV and lost that innocence. The cynicism and dark humor of the early 2000s came from that shock, anger, and trauma that never fully went away.
