When the GOP becomes the NSDAP, must we be still be gracious? Must liberals, again, fight for the rights and liberty of those who tried to take that away?
You get rid of fascism by purging it, its people and institutions. The GOP doesn't not seem like it can purge itself.

That a more conservative party than the Dems should exist may be true, but does that need to be the GOP? There will come a point when the GOP will be far enough that it will not be salvageable.

Your anecdotes are about older republicans containing the fascism of younger republicans, that is not a good sign for the future of the GOP. Many of of the moderate republicans are not fighting to save the party, they left. Those that stayed are shunned.

There are political opinions and acts of personal behavior that should get one fired from a university.
Using two-sideism here is falling into the same two-side trap that reactionaries have been setting for decades. Right-wing speech is very well protected at Harvard.

#harvard is NOT under intense budgetary pressure, it is NOT short of sustainable funds.
It is under self-imposed austerity which conveniently gives it cover to realign its academic and staffing practices with reactionary pressure from inside and outside the University.
