And to the public not paying attention, this has just become a Dem shutdown and a shutdown for nothing. “If the Dems could have opened up anytime they wanted to this was all their fault and what did they do it for? What did they get?” Foot gun.

At what point do the Dems in Congress commit seppuku for the inconvenience of telling the GOP “no”? In some countries they have national holidays about telling the enemy “No!”

If the democrats wanted to make their voters throw their hands up in frustration and walk away from supporting them, they couldn’t have done a better job. What are we even doing here?

And, earlier:
I truly don’t know how you look at the past week and THEN decide THIS is an appropriate — let alone the right — response.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

The was a Republican shutdown because the GOP wouldn't negotiate — and Dems made that about their unwillingness to negotiate on extending the ACA subsidies.

If Dems vote for this, the answer to the "why did you do it for the past 40 days?" question becomes very difficult to answer.
