I hope they will be putting re-entering the EU as a top priority in their policy wish list.

The markets have responded well to the budget, which is good for the UK. Stability is important to a fragile economy. If Reeves is forced out of office, people will regret getting what they wished for.

He will have to cut down on avocados and Netflix, won't he!

I think day one protection is not good for anyone, the employee, the company or the other workers, who may be forced to work with someone who isn't performing well. Six months seems far more reasonable.

In Argentina, it is a regular practice to purchase a home, say $100,000, by declaring $80,000 and then paying $20,000 in cash, under the table, to avoid taxation. Perhaps a transfer to the Cayman Islands is a more British method.

That's true, I recently started receiving my UK state pension and receive more than the published current rate, due to my lifetime contributions.

OK, thanks

I am not sure what point you are making?

As of February 2025, the minimum state pension in Argentina is ar$273,000 (£135 per month); some only get 80% of that.

Weekly protests take place outside the Congress building, but the Argentine government isn't keen to increase pensions.

So the UK is not the worst in the world.

House price inflation over the years has significantly exceeded general inflation, so for many, it is just luck.

A press which has perfected a technique of identifying a minor misdemeanour and blowing it up out of all proportion, think Angela Rayner's stamp duty or Rachel Reeves' Landlord registration, and now a sloppy BBC edit. It's not press, it's propaganda.

Is there a processing centre near Calais? I wonder how many people would rather chance the small boat crossing, sold to them as low risk, than being in a processing centre for 5 years and then being rejected?

Does the headline not deal with two seperate issues, either people are asylum seekers or they are illegal immigrants? How will changing the asylum system control people who enter the UK illegally or overstay their visas?

I think this affair could be an open goal for Starmer, he could appease Trump by telling him that the BBC would be dealt with, he could then instigate an independent public enquiry into Impartiality and use the results as a Trojan horse to clear out the right-wing cabal at the heart of the BBC.

Who remembers the old Spitting Image when Nick Ferrari was played by a pig?

The EU doesn't have a person who is "leader". Each country elects its own leader.
