It’s hard to find dense, hard-crusted European-bakery-style bread (my fave). Not to mention how pricey this healthy, honest kind of bread is. Really pumped to have learned sourdough basics well enough to bake loaves like this.

Started reading Elizabeth Bowen’s The Death of the Heart, but won’t finish it. Bowen succeeds too well in portraying the stultifying life of Portia, a friendless orphan in 1930’s bougie Britain. Exquisite writing. Claustrophobic effect.
