The star attractions of the new Corazón y vida: Lowriding Culture exhibit at the Smithsonian's American History Museum are the two dazzling 1960s lowrider cars, but there's also a gallery of fantastic photography to go along with it. Well worth seeing.

The Smithsonian Natural History Museum has moved the birds' exhibit from a basement corridor to a new space in the former Discovery Room. They've retained the vintage dioramas and display cases, and it looks great! It's between the African Voices exhibit and the Sant Ocean Hall.

Finally made it to a wonderful photography exhibit at Washington DC’s National Gallery of Art that I’ve been meaning to catch: Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955–1985. It’s in its final weeks (runs through January 11).

I’ve been shooting with the Meike 85mm f1.4 AF Z fast prime lens. The price is certainly attractive. It’s optics are very good. My biggest quibble with it is the speed and reliability of the autofocus.

CIPA data: as of June 2025, mirrorless = ~93% of interchangeable-lens camera shipments; DSLRs ~7%. Mirrorless units up 23% YoY; DSLRs down ~42%; overall digital still camera shipments up 19%.
