We were fortunate to have JUNO and Canadian Folk Music Award-nominated singer-songwriter Craig Cardiff join us as our artist-in-residence at the Junior School last month! He hosted sessions with students in Gr. 1 to 6 and performed a full school concert, where he played some of our favourite songs.

Gr. 6s embarked on an exciting lunar mission, applying their engineering and coding skills to explore the moon's surface! Students built and practiced how to drive their rovers, which culminated in a navigation across a mock moon track, where they investigated various lunar features and elements.

Upper School students celebrated the last day of classes before the holiday break with a special Holiday Assembly this morning, hosted by our Senior Year Presidents! We watched a fun video, played games, and Grads faced off in an epic dance competition. The Staff Band also played several carols.

Our Chartwells Food Services team hosted a Winter Wellness session at the Upper School which focused on the importance of staying hydrated during colder months! Students sampled Thai Noodle Soup while learning about how warm soups and beverages help keep the body nourished and hydrated in winter.

Last week, Upper School students gathered in the Brenda Robson Hall for our fun and festive Holiday Cafe! They enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies as they sang karaoke, coloured festive scenes, and had their photos taken at our photo booth. The Forum for Change was also selling honey from our hive.

Happy Hanukkah! At Upper School Prayers, students shared the story of Hanukkah and hosted a fun Hannukah trivia, which was followed by a reception for family and friends. Chag Urim Sameach! Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy Hanukkah and new year.

Grade 4 students put their French language and culinary skills in action in a "Bon Appétit a Havergal" restaurant expo! They celebrated their learning by eating delicious crêpes. Ms. Watt stopped by for a visit and thoroughly enjoyed her experience.

It was a full house for Carol Service last night at St. Paul's Bloor Street, our original parish church. We heard a beautiful program of Christmas carols from our Chamber, Senior, Middle School, and Alumnae Choirs. Between songs, community members shared nine lesson readings.

Junior School students put on a great show yesterday afternoon as they performed holiday music for family and friends at our Christmas Concert at St. Paul's Bloor Street! It was a wonderful program that included songs from our Primary and Junior Choirs and students in Grades 1 to 6.

Yesterday was Middle School Music Night in the Brenda Robson Hall! Parents, family, and friends were serenaded by our Grade 7 and 8 Bands and Grade 7 and 8 Strings.

Grade 7s had the opportunity to participate in a fun and engaging Engineering activity! Guest speaker Cora Pulnicki, from RJC Engineers, spoke about her career and challenged students to apply learnings from their Science class to create high-rises using uncooked spaghetti and masking tape.

In their recent Digital Wisdom session, Grade 6 students learned about important aspects of digital life. Through fun activities such as broken telephone and an escape room, they explored what to post, digital values, and internet safety.

Junior School students had a blast participating in Play Pals during recess last week! Upper School student volunteers hosted games for the Junior School by House. Everyone had fun meeting, connecting, and playing together. Junior School students can't wait for the next Play Pals visit!

Families and friends of our youngest students gathered in the Junior School Dining Hall for the cutest event of the festive season: the Junior and Senior Kindergarten Holiday Concert! Students sang a variety of carols in both English and French and shared why they love the holidays.

Our Mandarin students explored the beauty of Chinese calligraphy this week! Through guided brushwork and creative practice, they learned how a single stroke carries rhythm, balance, and expression. It was a meaningful and joyful moment of culture, artistry, and focus.
