I have had Starmerites on Bluesky complain that all the things Polanski is saying are just "bribes to voters". As though giving voters what they want to get their votes is an alien concept to people who support Starmer, who give him their votes for sod all in return. Bizarre.

It would be nice to think this trend would die out now. It's just empty performative rage at anything to attract views from people who just want to be angry about everything. And the algorithm doesn't care as long as people keep watching.

It would be on-brand for them though, considering they threw the Clacton seat to Farage in the 2024 election rather than let someone popular become an MP.

They really have. At least trickle down economics comes with the expectation that something beneficial will happen, however misguided. What they're doing now just seems like blind faith, in a system that clearly doesn't function anymore.

Went with Yojimbo. The film's 60 years old now so I don't think you'd get much direct association, but the name has been around in pop culture so it's still recognisable. Stray Crow would be my second choice.

Starmer visits Davos while Polanksi visits Heaven? Interesting contrast.

All three of which would require government intervention, investment, and regulations they are unwilling and incapable of delivering. So, nice words, still empty.

Not just a bow and arrow. He also learned hair care. Those two skills carried him far.

Since when does he care what people voted for? They voted for change and he delivered them exactly the same.

Yeah but the government can't fix that, it's got to spend the money on a nationwide facial recognition network no one wants or voted for. Why have healthy children when you can have egotist driven autocracy?

They won't do that, and they never accept responsibility for their terrible decisions.

Correction: He doesn't care about mayoralties. The choice Starmer made was between losing the seat and getting a leadership challenge from someone with actual principles, who will expose what a mess he's made of party and country. His fragile ego governs every decision he makes.

To non-Brits: If it seems like the British ruling class and press are heaving with career liars whose entire job is bullshitting and shitehousing the public to accept whatever tiny cliques of horrific, self-selecting swine want this week - that is because that is precisely how Britain works.
