I haven’t inhaled a bunch of industrial solvents today so I’m not prepared to talk about the regime’s foreign policy.

JUST IN: The Republican Mayor of Fairbanks, Alaska’s second biggest city, lost re-election last night to a Democrat.

Mayor David Pruhs is a conservative who fought protections for LGBTQ+ residents; he made comments this year drew condemnation this year from Alaska Natives. He lost to Mindy O'Neall.

Good morning from the line outside the courthouse in the Eastern District of Virginia, where former FBI director James Comey is set to be arraigned on federal charges.

I’m here for @lawfaremedia.org.

Checking in a few minutes later, that pit is getting deeper.

If your reaction to this was “oh good the Oregon national guard leadership is on the side of the citizenry” followed by an infinitely sinking pit in your stomach, you are correct.

Oregon National Guard general said that if they were deployed, his troops would be instructed to protect the protesters, not ICE.

People discuss how things may have to be reconciled in America if we have the chance to recover the system from the perverse actions taking place. The first order is for public officials to actually execute the tasks as Constitutional officers that they demured last time. It has to be done.

Note: this has no relation to what Democrats are actually doing or any other outside event.

“I am increasingly upset and want this to stop and posting this means people that feel similarly will help me express my feelings more fully.”

Seems like the good faith explanation to me.

I think the fact that they could only get two charges on Comey, and that the grand jury no true billed on some of those means that it’s more likely that, if anything, Halligan simply lied or misled the grand jury than the idea they were bought off.
haydonmp.bsky.social
That makes sense. I think we’re probably on the same page with regard to how we view the relationship, but I really appreciate your explanation of the terms and level setting.
haydonmp.bsky.social
Yeah, that makes sense. I appreciate you going through those dynamics for me.
haydonmp.bsky.social
Okay, this is what helps me reconcile where you’re coming from.

I’ve watched these retirements as de facto factional losses/push outs, but I think that what you’re saying is the conflict is much lower level than that, and that “schism” is far too strong a way to frame the conflict?

Again, I don’t know the norms or formal structures of the Catholic polity so I’m sincerely asking.
haydonmp.bsky.social
I interpret there to be lingering tension from Francis to Leo since it is my understanding that Leo himself represents an extension of that faction within Catholic leadership.

Is it more appropriate to treat Leo as a reset rather than a continuation then? I’m not sure I follow.
haydonmp.bsky.social
Also acceptable, I just happened to be listening to some Gojira live shows this morning.

The tension between the Pope and the US bishops, where it likely leads and how to interpret it.

I’m not Catholic and don’t know the preferred terminology for y’all’s polity, so I am trying to ask in a general/naive way without misusing or misunderstanding terms.

This should be Pritzker’s walk out music for all conferences and events.
haydonmp.bsky.social
Fair enough, how would you characterize the political economy here?
haydonmp.bsky.social
And these people get mad at liberals for taking art criticism seriously.
haydonmp.bsky.social
Would the American people rather listen to Stephen Miller’s verbal excretions of hate, Kristi Noem’s complaints about not being allowed to use a bathroom ***or*** would they rather listen to their Great Khan Pritzker to be loud for America?

I am glad the answer seems to be the latter.

30 telecoms masts AND ~15 various electrical grid units have been sabotaged last months in south-east Sweden.

The sabotages are concentrated along highway E22, ie one of the main routes needed to reinforce Gotland in case of conflict. Ports are along this route, with the main one in the middle.
haydonmp.bsky.social
Thing is, we are well into when that should be a concern for ICE and *federal* law enforcement generally in a lot of places.

This isn’t a ratchet that easily goes the other way.
haydonmp.bsky.social
You’ve got to imagine the Pritzker and general Illinois media strategy they’ve done has had an impact getting them there early.

Not really any ramp up time to get frustrated, and I haven’t seen articles about a lot of successful indictments leading up to it either.
haydonmp.bsky.social
I’m gonna come back and use this post a lot. It’s basically how I’ve felt about a lot of the shutdown.
haydonmp.bsky.social
Add it to the tally.

Seems like we’re getting up to 20+ grand jury no true bills just from what I’ve seen. Absolutely remarkable.
