I misread your penultimate word as "Pokemon", and TBF it still holds.

Lots of good folks at the CDC fought to acknowledge airborne transmission, but the leadership was clinging to the outdated droplet model that cost time and lives. Unfortunately sanitizing the air means expensive building retrofits instead of cheap sanitizer and "personal responsibility".

Oh they 100% haven't, but that's kind of my point. The US isn't a coldly rational profit seeking machine despite what they tell you. If a long-term solution isn't visible and/or cheap it doesn't get implemented. After all, what's the benefit in defeating respiratory disease if you don't get credit?

The problem is the systems that are effective are expensive and invisible. Antiseptic atomizers are basically useless, but an HVAC system that can do 5 air exchanges per hour are almost unnoticeable beyond a nice smell or sensation.

I hate it, but that's art I guess

Almost as if there's been a growing disconnect between historical metrics of economic success and the lived experience of the citizenry.

I love the idea of adapting Grass in the abstract, but in the details ... whew.

The TSA will absolutely judge you though, I used to load up on cheese when I flew back home to Wisconsin and there is a cheese threshold that raises questions.

I played it for an entire semester in the dorms, until I got Nol'd without even knowing that was a thing. I still dream about that game sometimes.

Huh. I was raised in a church that splintered off of AoG about 40 years ago, I wonder if they knew... I never found out where the schism stemmed from.

I was in a meeting where someone mentioned a tool we use called "Sirenia Manatee" so I googled it and that's just the name of a manatee, but also a software tool used for Clinical Context Object Workgroups, or CCOW aka Sea Cow aka manatees and I hate this timeline

It's paywalled, but I would bet real money that the phrase "the stock market is not the economy" counters a lot of points made inside. Stocks and GDP are terrible descriptors of how the economy affects humans, rather than corporations and hedge funds.

This has been my experience with AI. It's only good at things that don't matter, and I do my best to eliminate those things from my personal and professional life already. Every time I've tried to use these tools for something important, I end up throwing out the slop and rewriting it myself.
