Obviously don't post much political but whilst researching the 1935/36 county chess season came across the following in the Hampshire Advertiser. Can't help but feel that the future Lord Haw-Haw rhetoric is similar to what we are seeing currently.

The HCA ran a new ladies championship this year. With a mixture of youth and experience among the entrants, experience proved the winner. Former British Ladies champion Gillian Moore added another title to her long list.

The 1931/32 season saw Hampshire win the Montague-Jones Cup again, but was also the last season which Joseph Blake played for the County team. He had been pretty much ever present since 1887.

Hampshire's 1928/29 chess season included 4 OTB matches, as well as an 80 board correspondence match against Kent. All in all a good season for Hampshire, although it could have been better.
